Gainspace*

The rapid rollout of Large Language Models represents an unprecedented opportunity for AI to become a staple of a variety of applications ranging from stock trading to patent verification to lyric generation. For this project, myself along with project partners Angie, Tres and Dror were interested in exploring the potential of a LLM model to serve as an intermediary and support system between a professor, the course content, and the students.

What is it?

Gainspace is a multi-user ChatGPT interface that lectures a group of students on a given subject at a level that corresponds to their academic background and level of expertise on the subject. It also generates a personalized quiz based on the subject material covered. 

Why make it?

ChatGPT is an incredibly useful tool for summarizing information and explaining it to people of many different backgrounds. During the pandemic, learning was forced online and learners everywhere were forced to deal with inadequate learning structures. One of the places that our research identified as most inadequate was the area of breakout rooms, wherein learners sat around unsupervised during class time and generally wasted a lot of time (if my online learning experience is any indicator).
